Mrs. Vera Wood, age 98, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23rd at Ivey Baptist Church with Rev. Freddy Hogg officiating.

Mrs. Wood was born in Washington County, Georgia on February 8, 1926, to the late Alva D. Johnson and Laura Bell Brown. She worked at Central State Hospital as an Over House supervisor until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband's Hugh Dorsey Tanner and Albert Charles Wood and a grandson Robby Veal. She was one of the oldest members of Ivey Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

Survivors include her children: Hugh Tanner (Yolande) of Conyers, Judy Veal of Ivey, Clark Tanner (Cara) of Milledgeville, and Danny Tanner (Bitsy) of Gordon, two Sisters Nancy Timms and Audrey Veal both of Milledgeville, grandchildren: Ginger Davis Gatlin, Brandy Tanner, Nikki Fordham, Alison Tanner, Chase Veal, Christopher Tanner, Alex Stonecipher, Hiliary Conn and Karlea Tanner, many great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends before and following the service on Wednesday.

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Ivey Baptist Church Youth or WMU Fund.
