The death of Mr. Thomas Lloyd Gibbs, age 77, occurred Saturday August 3, 2024, at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7th at the Gordon Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Morris and Rev. Steve Hamrick officiating. A private family burial will be at Ramah Cemetery.

Mr. Gibbs was born October 31, 1946, to Jesse Brundage Gibbs and Frances Bozeman Gibbs. He was a member of the Gordon Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Wilkinson County High School and obtained a bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University, and a master's degree from Georgia College and State University. Lloyd worked for the Georgia State Patrol for over ten years, then was elected to serve as the Wilkinson County Probate Judge but law enforcement was in his blood and was then elected to be Sheriff of Wilkinson County. After leaving the sheriff's office he worked for the Peace Officers Standards & Training Council of Georgia as an investigator.  He also was preceded in death by his two sisters Mary Frances Wicker and Sheila Vincent.

Survivors include his wife Gail Tucker Gibbs of Gordon, children, Pamela Gibbs Leslie (Rick) of Jones County, Jesse "Bubba" Gibbs (Melanie) of Gordon, and Tondra Greene Barnes (Eddie) of Jones County. Seven grandchildren, Meghan Crosby, Trey Carter, Lloyd Gibbs II, Logan Gibbs, Joseph Barnes, McKenzie Compton, and Dawson Barnes. Three great grandchildren, Owen, Emit, and Catherine. Step grandchildren Kevin Leslie, Chris Leslie, Katie Black. Nieces and Nephews, Fran, Margie, Tommy, Deanna, and Ginger.

The family would like to add a special thanks to Pine Pointe Hospice and their staff Charolette Cleghorn, Allison Altman and Tu Meh.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, at Gordon Methodist Church, 135 Main Street, Gordon, GA  31031

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Gordon Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
