Tasha Ann Brooks Brookins, age 58, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 29, 2014, after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Her family and loved ones were at her bedside at her home in Ivey, as she quietly and peacefully made the transition.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 1, 2014, at the Ivey Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Ivey Baptist Church Cemetery with the release of white doves as part of the service.

Tasha was a member of Ivey Baptist Church serving as assistant pianist, church secretary, and taught Sunday School, Training Union, and Vacation Bible School. She also served as the Ebenezer Associational Acteens Director for two terms. Tasha was an active member of the Gordon Eastern Star where she filled the role of Secretary/Treasurer. During her active employment years she had careers in both the purchasing and psychiatric/medical fields working for McGaw Laboratories, Charter Medical Services, and Engelhard Corporation: she was also co-owner and operator of Lakeside Exxon in Ivey. Being the audacious spirit she was, she did all of this before returning to school to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. After earning her psychiatric nursing degree, she worked for MCCG and the State of Georgia (under Dept. of Human Resources, University Regents Systems of GA, Dept. of Corrections and Dept. of Juvenile Justice). Tasha obtained her ANCC Board Certification as a Psychiatric RN-BC which she maintained until her retirement in 2011. Tasha enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband Willie, enjoyed spending time together breeding AKC Golden Retriever puppies, a breed they both loved and adored very much. She was preceded in death by her parents John Lamar and Eleanor Proctor Brooks, sister, Lisa Marie Brooks; maternal grandparents-Arthur L. and Edith McCants Proctor; and paternal grandparents, Orace L "Red" and Gladys Folds Brooks.

Tasha is survived by her loving and devoted soul mate of 40 years, Willie L. Brookins, Jr. of Ivey, two sisters Robin Brooks of Milledgeville, and Hope Brooks Owens (Kenny) of Dublin. Two brothers, John Lamar Brooks, Jr. (Cindy) of Ivey, and Orace Lloyd Brooks (Jennifer) of Destin FL. Her aunt, Jane Proctor Cain Mailhaus of Brunswick, 25 loved and adored nieces and nephews, as well as 21 great nieces and nephews and approximately 20 cousins.
