Raymond Harrison Bacon went to be with the Lord and his heavenly family on Monday, February 1, 2021 with his family at the home of his daughter, Angel. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, February 3 at Irwinton Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Gary Horton officiating.

Mr. Bacon was born March 9, 1934 along with his twin Richard in Irwinton, Georgia where he lived the majority of his life.  He was the son of the late Nathaniel Hunter and Elizabeth Camp Bacon and the youngest of ten children.  He graduated from Irwinton High School and attended South Georgia College.  He joined the Navy for four years with service in Japan on the USS Pine Island.  He graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA and joined his father in the insurance business at Bacon Insurance Agency in 1962. He and that business were a fixture in downtown Irwinton for close to 50 years.  He was a faithful member of Irwinton Baptist Church and Irwinton Masonic Lodge #150 F&AM.

He is survived by his daughters, Joy Sawyer, Statesboro, GA, Angel Bacon (Brian) Shinn, Monroe, GA, Merry Bacon, Macon, GA, and their mother Grace Bacon, Irwinton, GA.  He has five grandchildren, Harrison and Hamilton Shinn and Holly, Heidi, and Haven Sawyer.

Some of his greatest joys were sharing from his garden, and family gatherings on Bacon Farms. His tremendous love and loyalty to his family and friends made him truly one-of-a-kind and cherished by many.  His sweet spirit and smile will be terribly missed but always remembered and treasured.
