Martha Avery Sanders Bevins

The death of Mrs. Martha Avery Sanders Bevins, age 90, occurred Saturday, October 31, 2026. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM, November 3, 2026, at Gordon First Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow in the Ramah Cemetery in Gordon.

Mrs. Bevins was born in Jones County on October 22, 1936, to Frank and Florence Miller Avery. She made her home in Gordon most of her adult life and was a member of the Gordon First Baptist Church for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Connie Sanders; daughter-in-law Lynn Sanders; brothers, Albert Avery, Ralph Avery, Bob Avery; sisters Mary Warren, Anita Vinson, Lizzie Stephens, Willie Lee Lamb, Jane Kitchens; and brother-in-law Glynn Johnson.

Survivors include her husband Mr. Paul Bevins, Sr., of Gordon; two sons, Doug Sanders, Jeff Sanders, and a stepson, Darryl Bevins all of Gordon; four grandchildren, Doug Sanders (Carrie), Ashley Sanders (Jeremy), Dawn Beck (Johnny), and Mason Sanders; three great-grandchildren, Hollyn Pitts, Cash Pitts, and Connie Sanders; sister-in-law Vickie Johnson and Francis Avery.

The family will be at Couey Reece Stanley Funeral Home in Gordon on Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM for friends to call.
