James Carl
Snow
May 11, 1937 — Jan 5, 2024
James "Carl" Snow was born and raised in Wilkinson County. He began work at Central of Georgia Railroad, had a brief absence from the railroad, as he was drafted into the United States Army and served for two plus years, including a year in Korea. He returned home to continue working for the Central, later Southern, then Norfolk Southern Railroad, as a carman, in Brosnan Yard, Macon, GA. He retired in June of 1999, after 40 years.
After his retirement he served with Mustard Seed, an organization that helps conduct repairs on homes for those that are unable or cannot afford it. He also served on the Board of Directors for Maranatha Outreach, then was the Maranatha Mission Home Director for two years. He continued to do volunteer work around the community until his health declined.
Carl Snow was a member of Snow Hill Congregational Methodist Church. He served faithfully in several churches and could be depended on to assist in whatever capacity needed. He was noted for his love to help people whenever possible. He loved Southern Gospel music, and he loved taking Emma, his wife of 53 years, to Gospel Sings. He will be remembered for his love of his grandchildren, teaching them to ride Star, his horse, going fishing, and spending time together. He loved to tell jokes to anyone who would listen. He will certainly be missed by his family and friends.
Carl Snow is predeceased by his parents Roy and Ivella Snow, wife Emma, and his brother Rufus Snow. He is survived by his younger brother Dan (Faye) Snow of Columbus, GA; cousin, Marvin (Barbara) Snow of Gray, GA. Daughters Karen (Duane) Clayton of Ivey, GA, and Rhonda Snow, of Gray, GA.
