The death of Herschal Thomas "H.T." Brown, Sr., age 80 occurred Wednesday, May 28 2014. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 31, at the chapel of Couey-Reece-Stanley Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Mays and Rev. John Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Ramah Cemetery. Mr. Brown was native of Bibb County but had made his home in Gordon for the past 46 years. He was the owner and operator of Brown Trucking Co. and a charter member of the Wilkinson County Historical Society where he served on the cemetery book committee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Myrtice Massengale Brown and a daughter Penny Denise Brown. His great love for football, NASCAR and fishing at Lake Sinclair kept him busy in retirement. He was an avid reader and loved gardening. Survivors include his wife Judy H. Brown, his children, Tommy Brown, and Alan Brown (Charlotte) all of Gordon and Mary Anderson (Billy) of West Palm Beach, FL, grandchildren Amy Brown Brooks (Charlie), Keith Brown, Corey Brown, Harley Taylor Brown (H.T.'s namesake) and Katie Anderson, great grandchildren, Paige, Preston, Pierce, and Codey, an uncle Joseph Ethridge of Gray and extended family and friends. The family will be at Couey-Reece-Stanley Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM for friends to call.
